Friends
The Friends page allows you to view all of your friends on OurID. In addition, you can view there profile and remove them from your friends list. In addition you can go to the Messages page and compose a message and select which of your friends to send it to.

How do I add friends?
There are 2 ways of adding friends in OurID, the first is to use the Search Members page to find people you know and then click on the "Add to Friends" link. Alternatively, when you are looking at someone's profile there is a link in the right hand menu "Add to Friends".

You will be directed to a page where you will be asked to write a message to be sent along with you friend request. Once they confirm that they are friends with you, they will show up on your Friends List.

 

How do I remove friends?
If you would like to remove a friend, go to your Friends page in your profile, underneath their picture will be a link "Delete Friend". If you select this option an warning message will appear and once you confirm this message they will be removed from your Friends List.

 

I have an email saying that I have a invitation request, what do I do?
The email notification will tell you who has sent the request and also display the message they left when requesting you as their friend. At the bottom of the email you will see a link that if you click will take you to the page where you will decide to accept or deny the friend request.

Messages
Your Inbox is where all your incoming and messages can be found. Your Send area is where all you outgoing messages can be found. Anything shared with you via the OurID site, wether it be friend requests or comments will also appear as a message in your Inbox.

How do i send a message on OurID?
Communicating with other members is easy! Go to you 'Messages' area and choose 'Compose'. You can send messages to a email address, or you can click the link 'select from friends'. This will activate a pop-up window with a list of all your OurId friends. Check the checkbox next to the friend(s) you want to send a message to and then click ok to return back to the 'Compose' message area.

 

Next you can add a subject and write your message, furthermore, If you like, you can send a picture or file with you message (attachments). Click the 'Choose File' button and find the file that you would like to send with your message.

 

When you have finished your message click the 'Send' button. That's it, nice and simple!

 

How do I send more than one attachment with my message?
If you have already attached a file to your message and you would like to attach more files click the 'add another' button and repeat the process.

 

What happens when you message someone?
When you message someone, your message goes into his or her Inbox. There will be a notification on that person's Home page as well as a email notification sent to their email account.

 

Who can message me?
Only your friends are allowed to message you, but any member is able to leave comments on your Journal, Images and Videos. Click here for more information on Comments.

 

How do I delete a message?
Inside you Inbox or Sent folder you are able to check certain messages and then click the 'Delete Selected' button to send them to your Trash folder. You also have the option to select all of you messages at once.

Comments
On OurID members can leave comments on you Journal, Images and Video's.

How do I post a Comment on someone's profile?
You are only able to leave a comment on something if you can see a link that says 'Add a comment'. When you click this link a form appears. You must enter a title for your comment as well as the comment itself and then click the 'Send' button.

 

I just posted a Comment but its not showing on his or hers profile?
Comments will only appear once the recipient has activated your comment. They will be sent an email notification as well as a notification on there profile Home page.

 

Why do Comments need to be activated?
Comments need to be activated because it's the decision of the recipient whether your Comment should appear on their profile.

 

I've received a Comment notification, what do I do?
There are two ways of viewing and activating Comments on OurID.

 

1. You have received an email notification that tells you that a member has left a comment on your profile. The message will tell you what item the comment was posted to and also the message of the posted comment. At the bottom of the email you will find a link that will take you to a page where you can view and activate or reject the comment. At the bottom of the page you will need to select 'Yes or 'No' to activate or reject the comment. Once you have chosen click the 'Activate' button. Only click 'Cancel' if you want to go back to your profile.

 

2. On your profile in the right hand menu there is a list of items. This list will show you how many unread Messages you have, if you have any pending Friend requests and also pending Comments. Click on the word 'Comments' and you will be directed to a page that displays the posted comment. At the bottom of the page you will need to select 'Yes or 'No' to activate or reject the comment. Once you have chosen click the 'Activate' button. Only click 'Cancel' if you want to go back to your profile.

Image Area
The image area allows you to upload multiple images at once, add titles and descriptions, create albums as well as adding pictures to existing albums.

How do I find the image upload page?
The are a few ways to access the Upload Image page on your profile.

 

1. Click on the 'Media' button on the left menu. This page shows 6 of your images randomly and also your most recent video. In the Images section of this page there is a sub-menu with a link 'Upload Images' click this link to be taken to the upload page.

 

2 Click on the 'Media' button on the left menu. Then click 'Image Area' from the sub-menu. This is your Image area. Click the 'Upload More' link from the sub-menu.

 

How do I upload images?
Once your on the image upload page click the 'Choose file' button and locate a file on your computer to upload. Click the 'add another file' button if you want to upload more than one image. You can upload 10 images in one go.

 

When you have finished selecting images make sure you click the 'Upload' button at the bottom of the page. Please wait patiently for you images to upload.

 

When you images have been uploaded you will be taken to a page that allows you to give your images, titles, descriptions and add them to an existing album, or to a new album.

 

How do I create an album?
On the 'Describe your images' page click the 'Create a new Album' link. A form will appear and you must give your album a name (title) and a description. once you have filled out the form click the 'Save' button.

 

How do I add a image to an album?
From the drop down menu choose from a list of your albums. When you are happy with your selection click the 'Add add images to this album' button. Next, you should fill out the title and description of your images that appear under the image thumbnail. When you have added all the necessary information click the 'Save' button at the bottom of the page.

 

What does the 'Add add images to this album' button do?
If you have uploaded more than one image and you would like to add them all to an album you will have to click the 'Add add images to this album' button to add them . Once they have been added make sure to click the 'Save button'.

 

What does the Filter do in my image area?
The Filter drop down menu in your image area allows you to view all you images, or images within a specific album.

 

How do I change the title or description of an image?
From the image area click on the image you want to change the details of. As you roll your mouse over the the 'Title' or 'Description' area a yellow box appears and the mouse arrow turn to a hand. Click the yellow box. You can now add or change the image title or description. Once you have finished click the 'Ok' button to save your changes, or click 'Cancel' to leave it unchanged.

 

How do I remove/delete an image?
From the image area click on the image you want to delete and then click the red 'Delete Image' link. A warning message will pop-up "You are about to delete this image. Are you sure you want to continue?" Click 'Ok' to delete and 'Cancel' to return back to the image.

Video Area
OurID allows you to embed videos from YouTube directly into you profiles. You can add titles and descriptions to your videos as well.

How do I add a video to my profile?
There are two ways of adding video to your OurID profile.

 

1. Find a video you would like to add to your OurID profile on YouTube. Located just underneath the video player there is a text area titled 'Embed'. Copy the embed code and return back to your OurID profile. Click on the 'Media' button and then choose 'Upload a video' from the sub menu of the Video section of your page. Paste you embed code from YouTube into the first box. Give your video a title and description and then click the 'Save' button.

2.Visit Youtube and click the 'Upload' link in the top right corner of the page. If you dont have an account you'll need to set one up. Follow the instructions on how to upload your video. Once your video is on YouTube follow the instructions from instruction 1. above.

 

How do I remove a video from my profile?
Click on the Media button on the left menu, then choose 'Video Area' fro the sub menu at the top of the page. Half way down the page the is a section title called 'Video Archive' which lists all of the videos you have uploaded to your OurID profile. On the right of this list there are two link and 'edit' link and a 'delete' link. Click the 'delete link and you will be taken to the 'Video Delete' page. A short description of your video will be displayed and then buttons 'Yes' for delete and 'No' to cancel.

 

How do I view comments left on my video's?
It's simple to view comments other members have left on your videos. Go to your Video Area and click the Title of any of your videos from the Video Archive. This will display the video, your title and description for that video and also any comments that may have been left by other members.

Account Settings
Settings allow you to change your Username and you account Password. When you click Settings from the left hand menu your Account Settings will be displayed. At the top of the page there is a Sub-menu with a link 'Edit your Settings' click this if you want to make any changes to your settings.

Sign Up / Register
Its easy and quick to sign up to OurID, follow these simple instructions if your having any difficulties.

 

1. Username: Your username should be a word or name no longer than 15 characters long, and must not contain any special characters (!@£$%^&*()-={} etc). You should not use your real name as your Username.

 

2. Email: You must have a working, valid email account in order to sign up for OurID. We need this information for security reasons to verify your identity. Your email address is also used to login to your profile.

 

3. Password: You must choose a unique password that only you will know. Its good to keep it simple, but not too simple that other people can guess it.
For example: cat (bad), umbrella102 (better), canDYaPPles01 (excellent).

 

I've signed up but I wont let me login, what gives?
Once you've signed up you will be redirected to a confirmation page telling you that you have successfully signed up to OurID. You now need to got to your email account (yahoo, gmail, hotmail etc) and look for a message from 'admin@id1000.org' with a subject of 'Activation'. The message will display the information you need to login (i.e. your email address and your password) and it will also display a link to activate your membership.

 

To activate your membership click the link and you will be taken directly to your profile.

 

I've already activated my account and I want to login again?
If you have logged out of your profile and you want to log back in again simply go to the Login page and enter your email address and password that you used to sign up with.

 

Why do I need to Logout when I've finished?
Its good practice to logout of your profile when you've finished using it. If you don't then other people who have access to your computer can add, edit or delete anything from your profile.

 

Why should I not use my real name for my username?
For the protection of your identity it is best to not to use your real name for your OurID profile username.

 

Why should I not give out personal details to other users?
For safety reasons and for the protection of your identity it is best to not share any of your personal details with anybody on this site. You should never give out your telephone number, mobile number and home address to anybody that you don't already know in person. Some people are not who they say they are!

Customise
The Customise section of your profile allows you to control the look of your profile. Members are able to choose from a number of colour combinations, font choices and most importantly you are able to change/add background images to your profiles.

 

I've added my own background, but I want to change it again, how do I do it?
Click the 'Customise' button from the left menu. You will be directed to a page that allows you to choose a file from your computer to use for you background. You can then specify whether you would like you background picture to repeat or to be fixed (more). When you have finished make you you press the 'Save' button below.

 

How do I add a background picture to my profile?
Click the 'Customise' button from the left menu and then on the next page click the 'Change your settings' for the sub menu and follow the form as above.

 

I've uploaded an image for my background but its not showing?
If you have uploaded a file with spaces in its name it wont work. You must make sure that you upload a file with no spaces or gaps in its name. For example, 111 cat.jpg = bad, 111cat.jpg = good.

 

Why can I only choose from a few fonts?
The font that you can choose from are limited to web-safe fonts only, but hey are all different so you should be able to find something you like.

 

How do I change the colours on my Profile?
Click the 'Customise' button from the left menu or 'Change your settings' for the sub menu and on the page you will see a drop down menu for 'Choose a colour palette'. Select the colour you would like to use on your profile and click the 'Save' button bellow.

 

Can I preview the colour palettes?
Below the drop down menu for 'Choose a colour palette' click the link 'Click here to view them'. This link will open a pop-up window that will allow you to view what each of the palettes looks like. When finished click the 'Close Window' link of the pop-up window, return back to the Customise form and select your colour palette from the drop-down menu.

 

I've had enough of my setting, can I put them back to default appearance?
Click the 'Customise' button from the left menu or 'Change your settings' for the sub menu at the bottom of the page there is a section titles 'Revert to default setting'. If you would like to change the appearance of your profile back to how it was when you first joined click the 'Yes' button, otherwise click the 'No' button.

Search Members
OurId has a very useful search engine that allows you to search for other users by name, gender, UK region. The search also allows you to filter results to those members with pictures only.

 

I've made a search and then clicked on the link 'view profile' for a specific member and I'm then taken to the login page, why?
To view other members profile's you must be logged in. If you are not a member of OurID you wont be able to view any profiles.

 

Why are there lots of different smiley faces for members pictures?
Once you've signed up tho OurID you can add a photo of yourself. I f for any reason you don't want to add your picture we have created some default pictures for members to choose from.

Say Something
Say Something is a device for posting instant messages on OurID. The idea is for members of the National Youth Theatre, ID1000 and OurID to post (send) any thoughts, feelings, rambles and small anecdotes that will be recorded and displayed for others to view.

 

In the future we hope to use what other members have said and compile a eclectic mass of opinions and ideas linked to specific moment in time.

 

How do I post a message onto Say Something?
Its really easy to take part in 'Say Something' all you need to leave a message is to be a member and logged into the site. Once your logged in you can either use the special 'Say Something' message box directly form your Profile Home page, or you can go directly to the 'Say Something' area of the OurID site. Write you message, idea etc and then click the 'Post it' button.

 

What happens if I click on someone's message?
If you click on a members picture or username you will be taken to a page that lists everything they have ever posted on 'Say Something'. Alternatively if you click on the date or time that they posted a message it will take you to a page that displays just that message along with the date and time when they posted it.
